Terra Search routinely offers clients portable XRF analysis of soils, RC chips and lab pulps. We calibrate our equipment using appropriate CRMs. Principal component analysis of the results has proved very helpful in delineating lithological and stratigraphic contacts. Previous Terra Search studies show that the portable XRF data has produced excellent results for some of the major elements that can be linked directly to alteration eg. K, Al, Si, S, Mg. The base metal and pathfinder elements (especially Cu, Pb, Zn ,Mo, As ) work well in PXRF. Other elements useful in lithogeochemical discriminations are Ca, Ti, V, P, Fe, Ba, Rb, Cr, Ni, Sr and Zr.
