Exploration Soil Sampling using Ranger ATV is a classic technique for identifying geochemical anomalies in prospective terrain.  While the basic pick and under/over sieve haven’t changed much, new equipment is available to make the job faster, safer, cheaper, and more informative.  Terrasearch specialises in undertaking this sort of basic exploration services.

Using a side by side all terrain vehicle certainly increases the efficiency of the surveys, while our use of portable XRF Analysis is a cheap way of obtaining multi-element geochemistry.

Previous Terra Search studies show that the portable XRF data has produced excellent results for some of the major elements that can be linked directly to alteration eg. K, Al, Si, S, Mg. The base metal and pathfinder elements (especially Cu, Pb, Zn ,Mo, As ) work well in PXRF. Other elements useful in lithogeochemical discriminations are Ca, Ti, V, P, Fe, Ba, Rb, Cr, Ni, Sr and Zr.
